GATE Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination administered and conducted every year jointly by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technology on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), Government of India.The GATE committee, which comprises of representatives from the administering institutes, is the sole authority for regulating the examination and declaring the results. JAM is an all India Entrance examination for admission to M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree and other Post-Bachelor's Degree programmes at the IITs and to the Integrated Ph.D. programmes at IISc.
