As a part of its Platinum Jubilee (75 Years) celebrations, IIT Kharagpur is launching the Director's Platinum Jubilee Scheme for Enhanced Thrust and Opportunities in Postgraduate Education, creating additional M.Tech seats for the 2026-27 academic session across selected strategic disciplines.
For over seven decades, IIT Kharagpur has nurtured the country's largest and most diverse undergraduate ecosystem. This Platinum Jubilee initiative extends that legacy by creating fresh opportunities for talented engineering graduates aspiring to pursue advanced technological education and research. The additional seats span multiple Departments, Centres and Schools, addressing emerging national priorities while strengthening India's high-end technical manpower. Admissions will be conducted through the regular M.Tech admission process based on valid GATE scores, strictly following the Institute's existing admission norms. Prof. Suman Chakraborty (Director, IIT Kharagpur) said:
"Every year, many exceptionally talented GATE-qualified graduates narrowly miss opportunities despite demonstrating significant potential. As we celebrate 75 years of IIT Kharagpur, we believe this is an appropriate occasion to expand opportunities for deserving students and strengthen the nation's postgraduate talent pipeline in strategically important areas." |
